  • Essay / Black Swan, the Movie - 1047

Nina, who is Natalie Portman, is a ballerina in New York State. Her whole life revolves around dancing and she lives with her mother who is an obsessive ballerina who was unable to make a name for herself because she became pregnant. When the director of the ballet company decides to replace Beth MacIntyre for the new production, Swan Lake, Nina is the girl he chooses. But Nina has competition when a new ballerina appears. Swan Queen must be the white swan and the black swan. Nina is only able to play the white man showing innocence, but not the black man showing sensuality. The two rivals begin a strange friendship and Nina comes into contact with her dark side. The disorder Nina suffers from is easily confused with schizophrenia, but it is a psychosis. Psychosis is a disorder that contains schizophrenia as well as schizoaffective and schizophreniform. Within this group there are a significant number of diseases that affect a person's mind. The person cannot think clearly, communicate effectively, behave normally, and understand what is happening. When the symptoms of all three disorders worsen, it turns into psychosis, the person loses contact with reality and can no longer act normally. Symptoms of psychosis vary from person to person. The most important are hallucinations and delusions. Some possible symptoms are relationship problems, mood swings, detached mannerisms, unusual behavior, confusion, and lack of insight. Nina is experiencing all of these symptoms. In one scene she is on the train and sees a girl identical to her dressed in black on the other side of the door but when the girl gets off she sees it's not her. She often sees herself in others, but dressed in black like her "evil twin". When she enters her mother's painting room... middle of paper ... her condition is much better and would not have committed suicide. I believe this because she would have realized that all these illusions did not really exist and that no one was in competition with her. In this film, the character suffers from a disorder called Psychosis. It is a disorder that contains others like schizophrenia, which is why it is easily confused with that one. The difference is that when someone is diagnosed with a problem, the person loses touch with reality. Throughout the film, you see Nina, a New York ballet dancer, trying to play two roles, the White Swan and the Black Swan. She gets involved with the dark side and begins to show her rebellious side. She sees her dark side when she walks and hears voices saying "sweet girl". This condition can be treated with medication and pills if diagnosed while not in the film..
