Many people believe that a college education is a worthwhile investment. The opportunity to become a college graduate will allow you to earn more money. There are more and more jobs in today's society that require a college degree. College graduates develop more and better job opportunities while earning a degree. Self-discipline is a major element for a successful graduate. Additionally, college graduates are healthier and live longer. Adults (young and old, men and women) with a bachelor's degree or higher have a median annual income twice that of someone with only a high school diploma ("Do collegegraduates"). 2014). Average annual earnings of population aged 18 and over, 2008:("Do collegegraduates", 2014)The growing income gap between graduates and non-graduates will likely worsen our country's already low levels of social mobility. A Dynarsky-Bailey study tells us that the percentage of low-income children who complete college is 9%, while the percentage of high-income children who do so is 54%. The gap in college completion among middle-class groups is also increasing proportionally. Given that parental income is a very important factor in determining whether a child enters and completes college, the growing income divergence detailed in the graph above will likely only intensify class exclusion. Graduates will earn more and more money, thereby increasing their children's chances of being graduates, while non-graduates will earn less and less money, thus increasing their children's chances of being non-graduates (Bruenig, 2013). Students should not consider a college education. just for the money. A student must learn to the best of his knowledge. In today's society, it is worth studying middle of paper before deciding to attend.
