  • Essay / Emmett Till Thesis - 1539

Emmett Till was raised like me. He was taught who he was, but he was also told who he might have to act like he is. This means that it's okay to be yourself and be confident in who you are, but when you find yourself in a position where you might put yourself in danger, be humble enough to keep your mouth shut. Again, just like me, Emmett was unable to control himself to prove a point and was therefore killed. As a leader, many people will test you. Not necessarily to put yourself in danger but more often to see if you really will. It's up to you to be able to decipher whether this cause is reason enough to risk not only yourself but also your own life.
