  • Essay / Is education a right or a privilege? - 740

Education is essential for everyone. Education plays a vital role in developing a generation of virtuous individuals and in turn contributes to the development of good people. Through education, a person is able to develop mentally, but also physically and socially. For young people, education is important because it helps them develop the principles of life, enables them to make the right career decisions and also prepares them to pursue the goals they have set for themselves in life. I firmly believe that a good, even regular, education is a right that cannot be taken away. Education is a right, not a privilege. John Dewey once said in “Thinking in Education” that “the method of teaching must be improved, to require, promote, and test thinking.” A student who is eager to learn will likely think incongruously compared to others who are unwilling to learn. Educational thinking is a main element that can expand the learning process. The ability to think is God-given to everyone and can be expanded through education. Therefore, using what you were born with makes education a right. Education is part of learning various subjects in school like history, mathematics, science in school and being “reading smart”. Additionally, having an education unlocks unimaginable creative ideas. Education is a right because it cannot be taken away as a privilege. I value the right to education more than anything that comes from a country that places education last in the list of necessary things in life. In my country Pakistan, people worry about money, work, etc. They don't realize that without education, a person's future leads nowhere. The opportunities that ...... middle of paper ...... of formal education. This is why some people think that education is a privilege, without which life would be ruined and would be difficult to live. Education is the key that allows people to advance in the world, seek better jobs, and ultimately achieve full success in life. Education is very important and no one should be deprived of it. The right to education is one of the natural human rights that everyone should enjoy, from youth to old age. The natural rights of man are fundamental privileges acquired from man's rational nature and natural morality. The right to education is an inalienable right because it cannot be renounced or transferred because it is necessary for the fulfillment of one's original obligation.
