  • Essay / Effects of British rule in India - 1375

These regions include Sindh, Multan and Lahore. These regions have seen their local governments weakened by excessively powerful Islamic rulers. The local government was not necessarily fundamentally changed, but it was not the authority of the country, it was the Islamic government. This allowed Indian governments to begin to weaken, which made them more vulnerable to outside invasions, as a weak government was unlikely to have a strong military. Islamic conquest in India reached almost every region, with the height of the empire reaching almost the entire Indian subcontinent. This is an entire subcontinent that was once self-governing and with invasion became the proxy government of another empire. For example, Islamic conquerors built the Taj Mahal in India and it was not because of the Indian government, but because of the Islamic government. This weakened Indian governments by not allowing them to be fully in control and it helped future European powers imperialize.
