The third function, leading, is the function by which managers are able to implement planning and organizing to direct and motivate employees to complete their tasks and work. It is important for employees to understand their tasks and responsibilities, which requires managers to guide them in these areas (Higgins, 1994). For example, if employees are not comfortable with their responsibilities, the manager must guide them through the work process to ensure that it is carried out.
