    Germany after the warThe Second World War caused many problems for Germany. After the war, Germany had to rebuild and clear many cities and complete many tasks assigned by the Allies. Many relatives of German citizens have died, causing grievances within the country. The German people wanted to rebuild their country because it was in ruins. However, the Allies divided their country into two governments. This split caused many changes within the German government. Germany had to take many steps to rebuild after World War II. After the war, between 1949 and 1958, some people immigrated to the United States. These citizens had many concerns, but among the worst were the Allies and immigrant safety. So that the Allies would not worry, they arrested many German citizens. This caused these individuals to lose money, food and created unemployment (Post-war context of World War II). World War II caused many deaths, including 500,000 to 2 million people who died due to starvation and disease. During this time, another common way to die was to die in death camps, also called concentration camps. Depending on where you lived and your ethnic group, you also determined which concentration camp you would go to (Expulsion of Germans after World War II). Among the two million people who perished were many women, children and the elderly. Most of the Germans who died were prisoners of war. There are also those Germans who were hungry, who were fighting illness, the cold and who had been victims of murder and who had left their country. (Massive starvation of the Germans).
