  • Essay / Old Spice Meeting Advertisement - 856

Ad Old Spice Meeting announces a new line of hair care for men. The setting of the ad is in a meeting room where a presentation is taking place. There is only one woman in the meeting room. Everyone, except the woman and man, who has used Old Spice products, pays attention to the person making the presentation. The male and female flirt with each other. The man's hair attracts the woman's attention so much that it earns him the woman's number. All Old Spice products are aimed at men. However, this advertisement attempts to persuade men and women to purchase Old Spice products. Old Spice says that if a man uses its hair products, he will get women's phone numbers or, at the very least, his hair will look better. Looking deeper into the demographics this ad is trying to reach, I don't believe this ad is being shown to everyone. But only for men with a certain hair texture. You can make the argument that not all men have the same hair texture as the Old Spice man in the commercial. For example, a person with natural hair would not get the same results as the man in the ad. Plus, again, there are men in the world who have no hair at all, so this ad wouldn't apply to them at all. In this advertisement, women are also being advertised. Most women want the men in their life to be handsome. Old Spice tells women watching the commercial that they can have a man with phenomenal hair if they buy its hair products. Men who can use this product are not limited to husbands and boyfriends, but also sons and friends. Many girls may want to purchase the advertised products for their newly arrived best friend... middle of paper... female. This ad doesn't appeal to everyone, but does a phenomenal job of attracting the intended demographic. The two main advertising techniques are association and promotion and they are both used very well in this TV commercial. Old Spice certainly attracted many new customers thanks to the broadcast of this ad.
