Arthur Schopenhauer's essay On Women (1851), although controversial, echoes Shelley's sentiments and speaks of women as delicate beings who must be handled with care. The author implores us to look critically at a woman and what we see is a being who should not be subjected to any form of “great work”, whether “of the mind or body” ( Cernovich, Np).
