Having a gun in the home gives children easy access to hurt themselves or someone else, as in the illustrative episode. Many major crimes committed with the use of firearms have led to changes to current gun laws. In conclusion, Good Times brought controversial issues into American homes in the 70s. Good Times was not afraid to shine a light on controversial issues in the country. The show helped put the real concerns of the time in context. The show was aimed not only at black people but at everyone who watched it. In doing so, Good Times may have helped raise awareness about STDs, gun violence, and other hot topics.
