We are a culture obsessed with idolizing “the perfect person.” and feel that by being a fan of a certain individual, they suddenly become one, or at least, get a taste of what it feels like to be them for a day. We are so seduced by this desire that we forget that these people are individuals and that we are only fueling something that will inevitably disappoint us. Suzanne Collins shows how society wants fantasy, even if someone like Katniss is incapable of sincerely believing hers.
