  • Essay / Consolidate Crawfordsville Schools to Save Money

The towns population plays a major role in how the town is built and maintained. When a city is very populated, everything tends to grow. Buildings are multiplying, houses are springing up everywhere; churches, police stations and fire stations are expanding to feed the city's high demand. Cities usually have several schools to provide all children with an adequate education; the bigger the city, the more schools there are. But what happens when a city is small? When a city is less populated, there are fewer buildings; the city has fewer houses and all the other necessary societies and buildings that make up a city decrease. The city has fewer schools because there are fewer children. Crawfordsville Indiana is a relatively small town with 15,000 residents and 1,800 high school students. Crawfordsville has three high schools that are very expensive to operate. Consolidating all three schools into one would save the city a lot of money and would be the best decision overall. The city of Crawfordsville is wasting a lot of money on three schools. Crawfordsville is in Montgomery County, home to Southmont High School, North Montgomery High School, and Crawfordsville High School. Southmont has 500 students; North Montgomery has 500 students; Crawfordsville has approximately 800 students. That's a small number of kids for three high schools and having three schools means a lot of bus drivers who need to be paid. The drivers' journeys are rather short and occupy few children, leaving the buses half empty. If schools were consolidated, these small bus lines would be eliminated. That would expand routes for remaining drivers, but the city would have to pay fewer drivers. The city spent money on buildings for the middle of paper......teeth. The combination of schools will allow sports teams to develop to their maximum potential and will put Crawfordsville on the divisional high school map, allowing publicity to see the talent present. Population plays a huge role in every city. A larger population leads to a larger overall city; it is adding more businesses, churches, schools and emergency services to meet increased demand. Smaller towns have fewer buildings and have less demand to meet. Population determines the number of schools and the number of students who attend that school. Small towns have fewer schools and larger cities have more. Schools cost a lot of money to operate, and when schools are overcrowded relative to the size of the city, the city wastes a lot of money. Crawfordsville has three schools for 1,800 students. Crawfordsville must consolidate schools so city can save money.
