    Organizations are placing more importance on employee well-being because “employee well-being has a significant impact on the performance and survival of organizations”. (Grant, Christianson and Price, 2007, p.51). Well-being can be divided into psychological, social, and physical well-being (Grant, Christianson, & Price, 2007) and by promoting well-being, a happier and healthier pool of employees can be nurtured. These staff are proven to be more productive and reduce costs associated with high absenteeism and illness. (Baron, 2006; Grant, Christianson, & Price, 2007) Businesses that rely heavily on computers and have long office hours have been identified as a growing sector associated with the increase in work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WSDs). ) and “these companies represented 30% of total injury cases in 2005” (Robertson, Ciriello, Garabet, 2013, P.73). In addition, prolonged computer use, which is also on the rise, will cause more employees to develop computer vision syndrome (CVS), such as eye fatigue and blurriness. (Robertson, Ciriello, Garabet, 2013; Anshel, 2006). All of these conditions compromise employee well-being, reducing their productivity and happiness. International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is an example where employees tend to spend long hours in the office with computers due to the nature of their work. Therefore, this article aims to explore how improving the physical environment can possibly benefit IBM employees and employers who value employee well-being by creating a healthier work environment that generates higher productivity and greater happiness. Therefore, improvement of the physical environment should be carried out to improve the well-being and happiness of employees. In conclusion, it is observed that there is a positive correlation between improving the physical environment and improving employee well-being. Therefore, a happier and healthier workforce is able to generate greater productivity. Probably one of the factors that managers are very concerned about is cost. Paragraph 3 addresses this concern by establishing the fact that ergonomics is not always costly, while simple modifications can be just as effective. Additionally, if we consider the benefits, we see that an improved physical environment actually generates savings with a positive benefit-cost ratio.
