    Many periods and movements have helped shape literature as it is today. These movements changed the way people acted and how they perceived the world around them. Some of these movements seem bizarre and quite crazy when you look at them today, but at the time they were part of a literary movement that people never wanted to leave. Led by many famous people and public figures, they contributed to the way the country was run and operated. There are many ways to influence a country, or even a small group of people, but, in the opinion of many, literacy has to be one of the most influential. Without these five periods, the literature we know today would be completely different and, in the opinion of many, much worse. The Colonial period had two movements, the Simple Puritan Style and the Classical Style. The Puritans liked to keep things simple in their literature. The simple Puritan style used commonly used words that everyone knew the meaning of. Among these writers was Anne Bradstreet with her famous piece of literature “To My Dear and Loving Husband”. In this poem, Anne expresses her love and affection for her husband, while speaking about the daily difficulties of the Puritan lifestyle. This truly opened the eyes of the world, as she explained the difficult life that the Puritans struggled with every day. The classical movement loved to express the ideal and perfect concept, while emphasizing reason, balance and clarity. “Of Plymouth Plantation” by William Bradford is a story about the hard times that the Puritans survived through their courage and incredible faith. This story showed the world how dedicated the Puritans were to living the life they wanted and how they did everything they could to achieve that... middle of paper ... and get a well done. where I can provide for my family without any problem. Some people may call me crazy for wanting to wake up at 4 a.m. just to run to college, but this is my dream and has been my dream my whole life. Not everyone in my life has told me it's achievable, most people actually tell me I should consider other options in the lower divisions, but that's where I have to believe in myself . As my teacher, Mr. Tagg, once told me, "If you aim for the stars and fail, you'll get nowhere, but if you aim for the moon and fail, you'll only fall back." towards the stars. "I have to tell myself that I can do it, and then show everyone, including myself, that I can do it. This period is about setting goals and doing everything humanly possible to achieve those goals; and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
