    Why do so many Americans live with obesity and should it be covered by health insurance? What causes obesity is taking in more calories than you can burn. Obesity is also caused by eating more food than your body can consume. Drinking too much alcohol and not getting enough exercise also leads to obesity. The true definition of obesity is characterized by excessive accumulation and storage of fat in the body. Some of the symptoms of obesity are being overweight, overweight, and weight gain that come from not having the right high-fat foods in your diet. More than two-thirds of American adults are overweight or obese. Overweight is another word for obesity. Many people are unaware that this disease can cause many health problems like high blood pressure, stroke, cancer and even diabetes. Obesity comes from a lack of energy balance, meaning your IN energy is equal to your OUT energy. Energy input is the amount of energy and calories you get from food and drinks. Energy expenditure is the amount of energy your body uses for things like breathing, digesting, and being physically active. To maintain a healthy weight, your energy in and out doesn't need to be exactly balanced every day. Inactive people are more likely to gain weight because they don't burn off the calories they ingest in food, and this type of lifestyle increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, and many other health problems. By developing a thick midsection, you risk losing muscle mass due to disuse as well as dangerous fat accumulation in your abdomen, which increases your risk of heart disease. Obesity rates differ from state to state, likely reflecting various lifestyle, age, and economic factors. Many people in the United States are unaware that obesity is on the rise and that weight gain is due to excessive consumption of fast food. Fast food may taste good, but it's bad for you. The reason I chose obesity is because obesity runs in my family and recently my cousin passed away from obesity which caused other health problems. I look at myself and wonder what will happen to me if I don't lose weight. I now try to walk with my husband daily, which allows me to exercise and eat healthily. Those who know me when I started school know that I lost a little weight, but not as much as I would like. So if you are trying or want to lose weight, start by adopting healthy eating habits and do your research. Consult your doctor first to show you how to lose weight the right way, because not all diets are healthy..
