Illegal immigration has been a persistent problem in America for many decades. The form of law that currently governs the immigration process is the Immigration and Naturalization Act, and it has been broken for many years as immigrants continue to flood into the states illegally. Immigration laws passed in the past and continually amended lead to current policy which fits into the model of incrementalism. However, it is important to note that the current US immigration system is broken and in dire need of reform. There are 11 million people living in ignorance and too many employers cheating the system by hiring undocumented workers in exchange for lower wages. The current system is harming the economy and destroying our country as a whole. Of the 11 million illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States, 8 million of them are currently working. American employers who want cheap workers hire illegal immigrants and pay them under the table. Since the system does not have an effective way to identify and penalize these employers, this presents an ongoing dilemma. As a result, the American economy suffers because illegal immigrants do not pay taxes like the rest of legal citizens. Americans who are citizens therefore have difficulty finding employment because employers prefer to pay under the table in order to earn higher profits. In my opinion, employers are at fault if they knowingly hire workers who are not eligible to work here. However, if the employer was unaware of an immigrant's illegal status, the employer is responsible for defrauding the system. I believe that this reform would be rational and useful to the masses, especially if a completely new platform was built based on the research carried out from previous policies. In conclusion, I believe the current immigration system is broken. Millions of illegal immigrants live undocumented in the United States. This leaves an unfair system for all current citizens who pay taxes and for immigrants who seek to emigrate to the country legally. Clearly, reform is badly needed, and the proposal presented offers many solutions that could boost our economy and create a variety of new jobs. The national GDP will increase significantly over the years and tourism profits will soar, boosting our economy. This reform can create new opportunities for the well-being of this country and enable growth in various aspects..
