  • Essay / Changes Brought by the Russian Revolution - 785

The Russian Revolution brought immense change for the better of its people. The daily sadness of the Russian people increased as the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. As World War I was going on and Russia was involved, many Russians were being killed by the Germans. The millions of casualties and famine throughout Russia caused frustration among the Russian people. Under the control of Tsar Nicholas II, the people hoped for change. The Russians became furious that they wanted Nicholas to blame him for what was happening in their country without getting help from their leader. Nicholas was seen as a selfish ruler with no love for his own people. Nicholas was forced to abandon his throne following a strike which broke out in Petrograd in March 1917 (Kindersley). After Nicholas was forced from his throne, a party called The Mensheviks formed a government made up of revolutionaries, but failed. The Bolsheviks arrived just after seeking to impose Marxism and seize power. The tsarist family was arrested and all killed after a year. The Bolsheviks, a more intense revolutionary group, took over. This party was led by Vladimir Lenin who believed in the ideas of Karl Marx and Marxism (Stock). Lenin's first step was to sign a peace treaty with Germany to withdraw Russian troops from the war. The Bolshevik government was a dictatorship. Lenin had a revolutionary background. His older brother, Alexander, plotted to assassinate Tsar Alexander and was executed, leaving Lenin with a hatred of the royal (Lerner). Lenin created the first ever communist state and declared Russia a Soviet republic. More and more people became involved in this revolution, inspired by the Bolsheviks and by Lenin on all ideas for Russia. Its slogan Peace, the...... middle of paper ......keeps everyone on the same level. The government provided for its people, but individuality and ownership of anything was not possible, especially if one wanted to advance. There are ups and downs in the beliefs of the Bolsheviks, but all of this was created to change the conditions of that time. The Bolsheviks believed that Marxism was the solution to all of Russia's problems to improve the country and the world. Thanks to Lenin, the Bolsheviks made progress in all areas. The Russian Revolution was a motivation for other countries facing similar conflicts. This improved the quality of life of the population and changed Russia and other countries that followed for the better. The Bolsheviks turned difficult times for everyone in Russia into hope for the Russian people and for every other country. The Russian Revolution proved to be an inspiring event that happened in history.
