  • Essay / Disadvantages of CBT Therapy - 989

    I believe the pros outweigh the cons. I'm quite used to computers, and I suspect that clients who use the Internet and request an online session do so too, some might even prefer this medium over an actual face-to-face therapy session. I prefer real face to face sessions, but if I can reduce the cost for a client I would also accept a Skype session. The main reason I consider Skype therapy sessions is that I can reach a wider audience and I'm not limited to a local group of people who are looking for CBT therapy. I've had a few online sessions with clients and found the experience to be no different from a real face-to-face session; however, I must admit that all of these sessions were with clients who had had face-to-face sessions with me prior to the online sessions. I'm willing to offer Skype sessions as an option just to keep up with the changing times and internet demand. If the third wave of CBT means I have to adapt to a new way of thinking about therapy and how we deliver it, the Internet should be seen as a means to bring CBT to a wider audience.;
