    To be "queen", Alice must travel to the eighth place, meeting different residents along the way. When Alice meets Tweedledee and Tweedledum, halfway through her journey, she looks at them in wonder. “They were so still that she had completely forgotten they were alive” (Carroll). This shows that Alice is still learning and can sometimes make mistakes. She continues to travel and in doing so, she slowly matures. When she reaches the seventh square, where the Red Knight attempts to capture her, she is able to absorb many more at once. When Alice first crawled through the mirror, she was a child, but at this point she is able to better empathize with those around her. This is demonstrated in his response to the Red Knight: "Just as he reached him, the horse suddenly stopped: 'You are my prisoner!' " cried the knight, falling from his horse. As surprised as she was, Alice was more frightened for him than for her at that moment, and looked at him with some anxiety as he remounted" (Carroll) She places the knights in front of her and is able to see him, although the Red Knight claims he wishes to take her prisoner he is in fact not a threat She bases this on her previous interactions with the characters and on. the opposite way of
