  • Essay / Overlapping Stories of Osiris and Jesus - 718

This is a comparative essay of Osiris and Jesus. In this essay, I will compare the two stories on 8 points that I found to somewhat overlap. It should be noted that the Egyptian myth appeared more than 2000 years before the birth of Jesus. The first subject is the birth of the two gods and the signs indicating their coming. When Osiris was born to Geb, the Egyptian god of Earth and Nut, the goddess of Sky, a voice came to Pamyles to spread the good word and Pamyles assisted him all his life. When Jesus was born in Jerusalem, he was born to the Virgin Mary and Father Joseph. The night he was born, a voice came down from heaven and a shepherd who was tending his flock heard it and went to see the child. Three wise men from the East also came bringing gifts. Both Jesus and Osiris were divine children but were meant to rule the lives of the common man. Jesus came as a result of a virgin pregnancy for his mother Mary and he is the only son of God and his father Joseph was a poor carpenter. Osiris was born to 2 gods and is the great-grandson of Egypt's most powerful god, Ra, but was accompanied all his life by Pamyles and was raised to become king of Egypt. Osiris taught the Egyptian people who were barbarians at the time how to feed themselves by growing crops and how to worship the gods and he gave them laws to follow. Osiris was a great king and after teaching the Egyptian people how to be civilized, he left and went on a journey to teach other people the same laws on how to be a civilized culture. Jesus, through his preaching, gained 12 disciples to whom he taught the key to eternal life. Jesus, during his 33 years on earth, traveled to different countries in what is now the Middle East and...... middle of paper ...... he and his husband can finally go in the afterlife. Where he will stay until the final battle with Seth takes place. In the final crossing in the stories, in my opinion, it is in the two stories after the last battle is fought and won by the righteous side, the disciples of Osiris and the disciples of Jesus and those who remained faithful to their faith will inherit the kingdom of eternal life and live with their king forever. In conclusion since the story of Osiris happened over 2000 years before the story of Jesus and they were both descendants of the most powerful god. in every religion, I believe that the Christian story is a sort of mixture between what people had heard over time from other stories like that of Osiris and what the authors of the gospels of the Bible needed to complete their stories about Jesus and his time on earth and how it applies to them.
