The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that in 2008, 16% of all fatal crashes and 21% of all crashes were caused by texting and driving (Chordas; Hartwell). More than 50% of teenagers admit to using their cell phones while driving (Hart; Paterson). That was more than five years ago, and today more and more people are texting and driving.
