    A solution to help reduce obesity would be to limit or reduce the time that people spend in front of a screen. When people sit in front of a screen, they don't stay active or even move for hours. Research has concluded that the main factor in childhood obesity is due to increased time spent watching television. The same researchers have reason to argue that there is an increase in food consumption, the nutritional effects of food advertising, and the decrease in energy when a child can be outside to be physically active (Welch). This just goes to show that for a short period of time in front of a screen, a person can gain a lot of weight. People watch TV almost every day, so when they continue to binge in front of a screen, they gain unnecessary weight. Health experts suggest that screen time, not including homework or work, should be about 2 hours or less per day (“How to Prevent Overweight and Obesity?”). Basically, people should limit themselves to no more than 2 hours of screen time per day to improve their chances of staying healthy. Another solution to reduce obesity would be to involve parents and family members in everyone's lives. Parents have the ability to control their children's lifestyle and they should start taking advantage of it. Families should reduce their consumption of fast food and take the time to plan better meals. With less fast food and healthier meals, people will live a better lifestyle. Parents should not force their children to finish their plates or reward them with dessert. If parents reward their children with food, they will start doing things more often so they can get random food. Families can stop buying junk food, so... middle of paper ... lifestyle choices they can make, but they can encourage them. With the help of parents, families, communities, schools and government, people can reduce the problem of obesity. Encouraging someone to exercise and eat healthily can have a huge impact on their life. Communities should come together to motivate people to exercise and stay healthy when they are young, but not force them. Parents could organize a color run so that as people run or walk, colors are thrown at them and after the run there is music and games. It is best for people to start physical activity when they are younger so that they can come together to enjoy exercising. People should not devalue someone for being obese, but encourage them to be healthy. Obesity is a big problem in the United States and it's time for people to start uniting to make a difference..
