  • Essay / Echo Chamber Analysis - 1028

Looking at my Facebook and Twitter, I could see that some of my information was “hand-picked”. This was mainly a problem on my Facebook, my Twitter on the other hand had feeds from many different media outlets which allowed it to be more diverse. Now that I have learned media skills, I will be able to look at a news feed and better evaluate it before forming my own opinion. To help diversify my social media feeds, I might like and follow different news pages, and make sure I'm not getting my news just from social media. Overall, echo chambers are a significant problem that needs to be addressed and resolved. Living in an echo chamber will only lead to closed thinkers and ideas. With unlimited information so easily accessible, it is important that we educate our communities on media literacy and issues such as affirmative journalism, to better expand not only our knowledge, but that of our citizens.
