  • Essay / Declaration of Intent - 795

“Dream, dream and dream. The dream turns into thoughts. Thoughts translate into action. This famous quote by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is an inspiration for my life. After graduating from Visvesvaraya Technological University with flying colours, my next obvious dream was to pursue a master's degree in my favorite subject, VLSI. But I was of the opinion that I should gain some practical experience by working in a research-based organization to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the corporate world. I was fortunate to be placed in my dream company, CISCO, and had the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology related to System-on-Chip (SOC). After 3 years of professional experience, I realized that I had reached the transition point where the next stepping stone requires in-depth knowledge of a particular field. My colleagues have encouraged my aspirations and believe that I have the potential to pursue higher education. My penchant for science began in my childhood. It was in high school that I built my first AM radio which got me fascinated by electronic devices. Fortuitously, this motivated me to go further and study electrons, how diodes and transistors work, without knowing that this would be a stepping stone to my career in electronics. All this was for me a plus in addition to good academic results. I was the topper in the university with 100% marks in science and mathematics. I was also placed in the top 100 among the 1 lakh students who took the engineering entrance exam. I was in my 12th standard, when I heard a speech by Sir Abdul Kalam on “Education with Values”, it inspired me to take a scientific career seriously, especially electronics and communication , as part of my specialization in bachelor of engineering...... middle of paper ...... ong engineering foundation. The computer engineering program promotes the integration of computer hardware and software. I want to be part of a team that accepts design-oriented challenges and demonstrates the skills acquired during my studies. The research programs of the Greenscale Center for Energy-efficient Computing and the Institute of Energy Efficiency are truly a source of inspiration and support for undertaking research in the field of VLSI design. The program combines basic concepts with practical experience to give students a better understanding of the job. I believe that graduate studies at your university will be the most logical extension of my academic activities and a major step towards achieving my goals. I would be grateful if I had the opportunity to continue my higher studies in your institution and if I could justify your confidence in me..
