When people think of a hero, they think of Superman, Batman or Spiderman, but they should think of people who make a difference. Bill Gates has made a huge difference in today's world; he is an extremely successful entrepreneur, an active philanthropist, and a very driven person in general. With this motivation, he has accomplished and will accomplish everything he does. He served as CEO of Microsoft and became the richest man in the world. He also created one of the most credible and generous charities in the world. As a positive influence on today's world, Bill Gates has proven himself through his good work ethic, positive attitude and great achievements. To become one of the most influential people in the world, Gates had to have the work ethic and determination to make it happen. With a great work ethic, as a child he began debugging computers for the people of his town (“Gates, William Henry, III” 1). This also began his love of computers, and as he researched and began to understand computers, he became more skilled with them. After he began debugging computers, he began writing software. The first program he created with his friends was a computerized payroll system for his high school ("Gates, Bill" 1). He and his friends later created more complex programs, such as Traf-O-Data, a traffic counting program that Gates and his partner Paul Allen sold to the city they lived in for $20,000 while they were only fifteen years old ("William H. Gates" 1).Another activity that Gates and his friends enjoyed was going through the trash at their local software company, looking for discarded software. People admire him for many things, but it is the noblest and most beneficial, which makes an influential person a role model par excellence for millions of people. Bill Gates, a positive person and a role model, has done a lot for this nation and world with his motivation, ability to learn and positive attitude. He is one of the most successful people in the world because of everything he has accomplished and everything he has done. As a child, he was just as driven, with his software engineering and business acumen, as he is today as an adult. He has achieved so much, status as an entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist. He continues to surprise the world with his achievements and will not stop; he is also someone to admire, a modern day hero.
