  • Essay / The effects of technology - 885

. Technology has changed many ways of living, from the invention of the wheel to the advanced systems we use and take for granted every day. Technology was once taboo in most homes, while people still clung to the idea that life was built on life experiences. Nicholas Carr said in: Is Goggle making us stupid? "In the fourth century BCE, Plato complained that writing (then a relatively new technology) was destroying people's memories, and yet he wrote dozens of books. For half a century, television has been blamed for rotting our brains and making us fat and lazy, but most people depend on them for information, information and entertainment.” Technology has changed our understanding of how things work and changed the way we interact with others in all kinds of everyday situations, from social media to teaching methods. Technology is not limited to computers, cell phones and televisions; it's part of human evolution. In science, our goal is to gain knowledge and strengthen our understanding of everything around us and how it works. The effects of technology have countless advantages and disadvantages. One of the benefits of technology is that people can access information much faster than before, thanks to Goggle. Some people would say that our reliance on search engines is sucking information out of the population at large. An example would be some of the people I am with daily and myself; we have developed the attitude of why should I learn to read a map or memorize facts about history and science when we can just type them or talk to Siri and the answer is at our fingertips ? I think having all that... in the middle of a paper... is achievable. Where do you draw the line between collecting the universe's answers and risking destroying it? Works Cited Chernov, Joe.
