  • Essay / Biography of Lee Harvey Oswald - 751

In the early sixties, John Fitzgerald Kennedy served as President of the United States. President Kennedy was very popular among the people, but due to his extreme principles and policies, Kennedy however had some critics. President Kennedy became a strong leader of America in the sixties, which worried the citizens. As for a man named Lee Harvey Oswald, he thought the same thing. Oswald, a former military sniper, had his own plan for Kennedy. On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository (Wunsch 2). However, people believe that Oswald was accompanied by several assassins. This was later refuted by the Warren Commission. Many believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was not a lone assassin, but ample evidence indicates that Oswald was the sole assassin of John F. Kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald was born on October 18, 1939. Oswald's early life was very troubled. Robert, his father, died shortly before Lee's birth (Reed 1). It was a life-changing moment for Oswald, as he did not have the love and attention that a child needs at that age. Eventually, he and his family ended up in New York. Oswald was sent to many doctors for his depression and emotional turmoil (Reed 1). His mother and brothers moved again, but this time, back to New Orleans. His childhood never taught him to be a good person, which... middle of paper... general named Edwin Walker in April 1963. His wife later told authorities about the attempted murder during an interrogation with her. Oswald told Marina about this incident right after he tried to kill Walker. Oswald moved his family to New Orleans right after this incident (Simkin 2). Again, with Oswald's interest in communism, he wrote for the Fair Play Committee for Cuba. Lee created numerous copies of pamphlets encouraging American citizens to join the committee. One day, while distributing these documents, Lee Harvey Oswald got into a fight with a man named Carlos Bringuier. He was arrested for this crime and sent to prison with a fine. After leaving prison, a few days later, Oswald spoke on the Bill Stuckey radio show about his problem with Fidel Castro (Simkin 2). Oswald's return to the United States was not for good reasons, especially his actions in the near future.
