Globalization has already provided us with many examples of its advantages. Small impacts, such as providing cold regions with access to fruits and vegetables, as well as larger impacts, such as providing vaccines to developing countries in Asia and Africa, are examples of the positive nature of globalization . Many countries now find themselves with access to products once reserved for the richest nations. Additionally, countries are now more aware of global events and are able to play a greater role when needed. The 2004 tsunami, which killed an estimated 240,000 people and displaced more than 100 million, is a prime example of a global response to a crisis. Following the event, more than 60 countries contributed money and resources to help address the crisis. Countries like Australia and the United States, as well as smaller countries like Zimbabwe and Croatia, have helped. Even North Korea sent $150,000 in aid (Beaumont et al., 2009). Globalization has created the infrastructure and networks necessary to carry out a humanitarian effort of this magnitude. Globalization is more than a business concept and, although it is tempting to consider only the economic impacts, this represents only one aspect of globalization. The humanitarian and cultural benefits of globalization are just as important as the economic benefits, and the positives are just as important as the benefits.
