  • Essay / Persuasive Essay on Love and Sacrifice - 1874

It's about sacrificing one's own body for something. Whether it's something you believe in or for a physical thing. People around the world did this for a better cause and may have been inspired by their actions. There may be a time when you suffer to make the other person you care for comfortable. For example, in "The Gift Of Magi" the author describes a scene in which the father comes home, he is described as being thin and cold. It states "He looked thin and very serious... needed a new coat and he had no gloves." This shows how this man has given up the comfort of warmth and he prefers to leave his body cold just so as not to waste money on himself and he would probably use it for necessities other than his own. Perhaps this shows that he probably gives up a meal every now and then to use the money for a meal perhaps for his family rather than for himself. He would physically sacrifice being nurtured and warm for the sake of others but himself and expects nothing in return. It conveys immense love if one is willing to do so. Another example of physical sacrifice in "Gift Of Magi" is a scene in which the author explains that the woman gives up her own hair just to have money for her husband. The story goes: “I had my hair cut and sold because I couldn't have lived through Christmas without giving you a gift. » (Henry. O. 2) This woman loves the man so much that she was ready to sacrifice herself
