After the Civil War, America experienced rapid social and economic growth. Due to rapid industrial growth, many companies abused their workers and therefore gave them very low wages. Workers and many others began to unite and fight for their rights and for the well-being of society. This period, known as the Progressive Era, brought very significant social changes and reforms. The Progressive Era was very successful because the majority of changes were aimed at improving the lives of all American workers and bringing about beneficial change.
