    The City of Culture is a cultural center created for the Province of Galicia, in the northwest of Spain. Its design is adopted from three different sets of information. First, the street map of the medieval center of Santiago is superimposed on a topographical map of the site overlooking the city. Second, a modern grid is placed on medieval roads. Third, through the use of modeling software, the topography of the hillside can distort the two flat geometries, which will generate a surface that repositions the old and the new in a way never seen before. Construction is very difficult and very expensive because the building design requires high-level contours, intended to make the buildings look like hills.
