    As Margaret and Andrew walk through the welcome party to meet her friends and family, they interact with each other as well as the father and ex-girlfriend Andrew's friend through various facets of interpersonal communication in an attempt to make their relationship credible. Their failure is due to a lack of verbal and non-verbal communication. If they want to make those around them believe that they are madly in love, they do not use key communication methods such as listening, self-disclosure and body language. It is obvious to those they communicate with that their relationship lacks communication skills and is therefore unbelievable. One of the fundamental areas that Andrew and Margaret struggle with is listening. Listening is essential to maintaining deep connections or relationships with other people. Effective listening includes areas of understanding, empathy, non-judgment, critical, deep and active style.
