    War ExperiencesThe First World War was a time of despair, rivalry and hatred between a number of countries for not one, but several reasons. The experiences people had during World War I were horrible and they wouldn't want to ever happen again. Unfortunately, the Second World War broke out after the end of the first. Every soldier's nightmare was to fight this battle a second time. There were many underlying causes for the war and after hearing and realizing what a difficult time it was because of what people went through, it was a horrible time for everyone who lived through it , including Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy and Japan. A book, All Quiet on the Western Front, was written about a young German soldier, his experiences and his views on the war. Paul Baumer enlisted in the German army when the Great War broke out in 1914. His enthusiasm for the army waned and he lived in constant fear of being excluded from fighting in a war. Alongside Paul Baumer, millions of others had combat experience in the First World War. Poems such as In Flander Fields, Anthem for a Doomed Youth, Dulce et Decorum Est, The Happy Warrior, Before Action and Back were also written. written to incorporate themes of the horror of war. The horrific war led to experiences surreal and terrible enough to go unmentioned by those who participated in it. In the aftermath of the Great War, a new perspective was created on modern warfare and society by analyzing the frightening encounters that everyone experienced, including Paul Baumer in All Quiet on the Western Front who identified his experience of war. because of World War I, middle of paper ......, the United States needed to feel sympathy for them, especially for Paul Baumer. From the beginning, Paul seemed to have matured and become more of a man, unlike his childish actions from school. His experiences, along with those of millions of others, during this war caused a change in society and in perspectives on what happened. This war made society less structured due to constant conflicts between countries. In 1918, at the end of the First World War, everyone thought it was over and those who returned to militarism did so and those who did not. As the years passed, the rivalries did not end, causing the start of World War II..
