Authoritarian parents are very strict, they have high expectations and set many rules that their children must follow without any options, otherwise they will be punished in different ways with little or no explanations. This type of parenting style is not reactive. Permissive parents are not strict, they don't set rules at all and if they have any, they are inconsistent, they are very caring and loving. This type of parenting style provides more freedom to their children with less responsibilities and they also listen to their child's opinion on serious decisions. Authoritarian and permissive parenting styles are very different because the former is much stricter than the latter. Authoritarian parents punish their children when they make a mistake. However, permissive parents act more like friends to their children and talk about what is going on and make agreements to resolve what they did wrong. The only similarity they have is that they are parents trying to raise their children in the way they think is best for them. The authoritarian parenting style is unique in the way they raise their children; their high expectations and strict rules are something that everyone must do their best, which is why the authoritative parenting style is the most effective in raising a child.
