Health policy is a well-established area in European politics and society. The issue of healthcare assumes different roles and involves many different aspects in many countries in Europe. Many countries in Europe use some form of public healthcare system, while others adopt a hybrid plan between public and private healthcare, while still others adopt a completely private form of healthcare. It is a government-provided healthcare system funded by taxes from British citizens. The United Kingdom's healthcare system is managed by the United Kingdom National Health Service or NHS (Allianz). This is health care considered inexpensive and free in some cases. This British health program covers things like medical treatments and doctor visits, but charges fees for medications, optical exams and glasses, and dental care (Allianz). When it comes to doctors in the UK healthcare system, individuals do not have a choice of doctor. In the UK, there are private and public hospitals. As for hospitals, not all hospitals provide emergency care services, but those that do can care for any individual (Allianz).
