  • Essay / Essay on the Catholic subculture - 1531

One becomes a Roman Catholic through the sacrament of baptism. All baptized Catholics are expected to live their faith, regardless of the culture or country in which they find themselves. This is manifested through the celebration of the sacraments, especially the Eucharist on Sunday, through the development of a life of prayer with God, and through service to others, especially the poor. Catholics also fast like all other major religions. This particular fast is called Lent and occurs 40 days before Easter Sunday. This act of worship is a way of bringing the bodies under the control of the soul and also a way of repenting of one's wrongdoings. Most followers usually give up on a particular craving for the duration of the 40 days. In addition to this, followers should refrain from eating meat and limit their daily intake to just one meal. But under lenient rules, people can still eat more than one meal a day, but the meat must still be removed from the market.
