  • Essay / Sports Injuries Essay - 1036

Basketball is a sport played by many people and requires running, jumping, and throwing. Depending on the position played, offense or defense could result in an injury. Basketball treatment can be treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The main pharmaceutical functions of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are anti-inflammation, methadone and fever. This medication is non-steroidal and it may be beneficial for basketball players to avoid suspicion of stimulant use. It can be used safely by basketball players (Bao-yuan, H., & Min-jie, H. 2014). There are other pain relievers that can be used to treat an injury and can be purchased over the counter. Using home remedies like rest, ice, compression, and elevation could treat the injury that occurred while playing basketball. Common injuries are ankle sprains and calf strains from running, basketball and football, which can be treated with rest, ice, compression and elevation if no medication is not available for processing. Knowing the simple steps to treat an injury could reduce the worsening of the injury due to inability to treat it in a timely manner to prevent further injury. Taking care of the injury during the first twenty-four is essential to healing the injured body.
