  • Essay / My Final College Essay - 1665

During Introduction to College Writing, I wrote a total of three essays and turned them in. These three essays are: narrative, profile and argumentative. My first essay was the story in which I wrote about the night of my mother's arrest. With this essay. As a writer, I was trying to convey the emotions I felt during the experience and describe the many atmospheres that occurred throughout the incident. The only memorable thing about this essay was figuring out how to end the essay in a way that summarized the entire essay in a short and stylistic way. That I felt I did well with my last sentence being "That was the first time I said 'I love you' although I couldn't tell you that." Writing that last statement felt like I was summarizing a difficult relationship I had with my mother, discussing details that spanned years, into a simple sentence that echoed the core concept. This was the only breakthrough I encountered as I wrote this essay recalling the night and describing my feelings flowed easily and I found myself quickly. I only stopped to find a fancier word or write a sentence in a different way. Either by making it longer, shortening it, or including more details. I had a strong feeling that I was communicating the whole situation in an understandable and touching way. Looking back on the essay, there were many things to correct as I did in my rewrite, such as: organization, fragments, contractions, comma splices. Profiles was the next essay on the list to write in which I immediately chose my smoke point. campus. In this essay I was supposed to vividly describe a place we often visit. Although I approached the subject on a personal level by criticizing the way society views smokers through the description of the drainage ditch...... middle of an article ...... every day class, I participated as much as possible by answering questions, maintaining eye contact and staying attentive and alert during class each day. I stayed after class to set up meetings with my three essays and showed up early each time. In which I read the comments made before and digested them myself and came up with an idea on how to improve my article, answer questions you may have had about my article and have questions about what I could do to improve my article. . Although my class work does not reflect an AI, I feel that my time and participation is on the right path to excellence in the world of academic writing. “Once a person is determined to help themselves, nothing can stop them.” (Nelson Mandela) I am determined to hone my writing skills and make an impact wherever I use the strokes of the pen or keyboard..
