  • Essay / Information Technology: Career Development Process Challenges

My dream job in Information Technology (IT) is to become a computer software engineer to design and develop software. I personally love it because it has been my long-time dream since I was young and I know I learned more about it in school. My work as a design and development software engineer includes the development of computer games, operating systems, middleware, network control systems and business applications. I will apply the theories and principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to test, create, develop and evaluate all software applications and systems that enable computers to operate or function effectively and efficiently (Burgess, 2002). Other tasks I will perform include: reflecting changes in technological advancement, changing employer practices, particularly in new areas of specialization. It also involves maintaining and planning for future growth of computers, building and coordinating computer systems in organizations so that organizations can easily perform their core functions and operations. My job will also involve providing ongoing technical support to computer software buyers and customers (Burgess, 2002). My strengths are that I learn everything new in information technology faster, especially about the software and hardware I have. specialized in this field. This led me to become more interested in computer software engineering. I am also creative and innovative in this field and I can embrace challenges and be able to do something meaningful in my workplace. My other strength is my academic and professional qualification in the IT field. I understand in depth what is happening in this field of information technology (Burgess, 2002). Say no to plagiarism. Get an original essay I also get recent design updates from computer software engineers and can advise an organization on the best technology to adopt. My other strength is that I can manage both software and hardware of a computer; hence an additional advantage for an organization in that it will not be necessary to employ two specialists to carry out two different tasks. I am social and extroverted; therefore, communicating and expressing myself to clients and anyone who needs my help will not be a problem or challenge (Burgess, 2002). The work I wouldn't do is information technology and engineering consulting. It's because I like being on the field to do the practical part. This will make me gain experience and be competent in the field. Being a consultant is theoretical in nature, but I love the practice; take care of the computers and fix them in their correct positions and make sure they are operational (Burgess, 2002). I consider this job as the worst because as I said earlier, I am innovative and creative, so this job will limit my ability to be innovative and creative because I cannot explore the IT field in depth. This means I will not have the chance to gain experience and apply the theory I learned in class (Burgess, 2002). In the field of information technology, I will face many challenges during my career development. Information technology is one of the rapidly evolving fields by, 2002).
