    Franklin Pierce was born on November 23, 18041 in Hillsboro, NewHampshire. He was the sixth child in a family of eight brothers and sisters. He was considered a handsome man and got his looks from his mother, Anna Pierce. His father, Benjamin Pierce, was a hero of the American Revolution and twice governor of New Hampshire. He was seventh in the line of American Pierces, beginning with Thomas Pierce. He grew up in New Hampshire. After completing his internship at Hancock Academy, he attended academies in Francestown and Exeter to prepare for college. He went to BowdoinCollege in Brunswick, Maine. His father chose the college because the college president had the same political views as him. Franklin graduated third grade in his class in 1824. After college, he wanted to join the army. America was not at war, so he studied and became a lawyer. He passed the New Hampshire bar in 1827. Franklin was a wonderful orator. This led him to follow in his father's political footsteps and become a U.S. Representative from New Hampshire in 1829, at the age of 24. He is the only representative to have served a state while...
