Even though they are both classified as young adult novels, these two books are very different but have some similarities. The characters in these books have contrasting attitudes and reactions to varied scenarios. The Fault in Our Stars has a more romantic feel while The Perks of Being a Wallflower is more about growing up. The characters are also deeply affected by the books' settings. These two books have two distinct main characters. The main character of The Fault in Our Stars, Hazel, is a girl who thinks cancer has taken over her life, but when she meets Augustus, she discovers his true identity. While Charlie, the main character in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, was a boy who couldn't come out of his shell. He was a tapestry guy and never participated in anything until he was admitted to a mental hospital and realized he had to start living his life.
