    Chapter 1 - IntroductionThe topic chosen for this honors thesis is to analyze male and female motivations and perceptions of using gym and fitness classes . For the purposes of this research, Stewarton Sports Center was used as a case study and a wide range of people were also used via social media to provide feedback and opinions. Justification of the research subject The researcher had initially chosen this subject in December 2013. The subject was chosen to show a distribution of motivations for participation or non-participation of men and women in gym and fitness classes, but also to analyze the perceptions that both sexes had about gym and fitness classes. It has emerged that in some gyms and sports centers, fitness classes are dominated by women and gyms are dominated by men. So the researcher wanted to establish why this was happening and try to combat it. Motivation Factors Everyone has different motivators, so this needs to be established as to what motivates individuals to go to the gym or fitness classes. Male and Female Perceptions of Using the Gym or Fitness Classes For many years, it has always been men who participated in fitness workouts and attended the gym, but more and more women are. get involved.
