    Mad MenI was recently rewatching an old show from my childhood on Hulu. UFO was a cheesy sci-fi show from England. First released in 1970, UFO is set in the future, a top secret agency battling aliens who were coming to Earth and endangering our way of life, Cold War style. In one episode, SHADO's commander visits Moon Base Alpha and is greeted by the commanding officer, a woman. I was thinking how progressive this was for 1970, even though Star Trek had already done it. The SHADO commander immediately asks him to bring him a cup of coffee. Looking back, it seems pretty funny and I can't help but wonder what he would get if he asked a female officer to bring him coffee today. Lap coffee I guess. Much like UFO, Mad Men is a series with fictional characters in fictional situations and not a history lesson. We can't help but view things through my own experiences, and the '60s can only be reimagined through the filter of experiences that have happened since.
