    Do you know or love someone who is obese? There's a good chance that's the case, because one in three people in the United States is obese. Obesity is a growing problem, both among adults and young children. This condition leads to many problems ranging from chronic illnesses to emotional disorders. With obesity being the second leading cause of death in America, there are ways to reduce and prevent the number of people living with this disease. With healthy eating habits, exercise and encouragement, those who suffer and those who wish to prevent obesity can be saved. With obesity a growing problem in the United States, it is important to maintain a healthy weight and exercise regularly. If more people exercise and eat a healthy diet, the population of obese people will decrease. Obesity is the second most harmful condition in the United States today. This growing problem creates a lasting impression on individuals, communities and even nationally. In the United States, after smoking, which is declining, obesity is the second leading cause of death among adults under the age of seventy. Obesity causes several health problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, bad cholesterol, asthma, sleep apnea, gallstones, kidney stones, l infertility and eleven types of cancer. Not only does it affect the person's health, but it also affects their social and emotional feelings, including discrimination, poor quality of life, and susceptibility to depression. Obesity also impacts the country's economy, productivity and even national defense. An estimated one hundred and ninety billion dollars was spent on health services for obese people in 2005, and this amount is expected to double each year.
