Nowadays, there are so many technological advancements in the field of prosthetics. Prosthetics allow people to do simple things like walk or something a little more difficult like run a marathon. Prosthetics help amputees re-enter society by helping individuals return to some stage of normalcy. Modern limbs are stronger and lighter than ever, these limbs are made of durable plastics and carbon fiber. Although technology is not advanced enough to replicate human limbs, progress is being made to do so. This is what we call mechatronics, the fusion of man and machine; This is the ultimate goal of prosthetics. Once this is feasible, amputees will be able to function in exactly the same way as a person with all limbs physically and with prosthetics so advanced that the depression rate could drop to the average rate. Progress is being made every day and one day the misconceptions about amputees will disappear.
