  • Essay / Analysis of persuasion and propaganda - 1002

Subject: The ad concerns Nike shoes. Nike has released its new shoes, the “Nike Trainer One” for women, with new technology supposed to activate your muscles. Occasion: Nike is probably advertising these new shoes now because many women want to stay fit and lose weight. Many women are concerned about their figure and are ready to do anything to stay in shape. Additionally, there are many gyms, which has led women to exercise a lot more. So they might look for items that can benefit them when they exercise. Overall, people want to be fit and healthy and these shoes give faster results when they work out. Audience: The audience for this ad is health-conscious women who want to stay in shape. would be willing to buy shoes that would help activate your muscles and give you faster results. This ad specifically targets women who work out and exercise because the shoes give you faster results during exercise. Objective: The advertisement encourages women to buy these shoes to get in shape more quickly. The advertising claims that these shoes are the "ultimate quick fix" and that this addition activates your muscles during training, giving you faster results after exercise. The new technology used in this shoe will somehow activate your muscles the way they are supposed to. This will help you get in shape faster. Speaker: Nike is a multinational company that manufactures shoes, clothing, equipment and many other things. They are well known throughout the world and therefore enjoy credibility as speakers. It is one of the world's largest suppliers of sports shoes. Nike is proud to be a global producer of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment. The ad is sophisticated and sits in the middle of the paper. Does it help you get back into shape by 5%? Also, what does "fit" mean in the addition? Is being fit, having a six pack, or being a certain weight? I think the ad is too general, which makes me question many of their ideas. Overall Rating: No, I think the ad is not effective because it contains far too many general ideas and also contains misleading information. The ad claims a lot of things, but never really explains how you get in shape faster with this shoe. They claim we get fit faster, but as an audience we don't know how fast, nor do we know what the ad really means by the word "fit." (muscular vs. under a certain weight) I think the ad had some good tactics and ideas, but they could have explained some things better. The ad would have been more effective if they had been more specific and had more evidence to back up their information..
