    When people think of New York, they usually first imagine luxury, money, glamour, skyscrapers and a ton of other BIG elements – The Dream American! New York has this image of itself that is beautiful, romantic and a place of new beginnings. New York, with Ellis Island, was the center of the New World that offered a chance for change and freedom. The city was known as a place where immigrants and people came to start over. This representation has always existed since the Great Depression until after the September 11 attacks. We saw that, despite the difficulties, New York could not be destroyed. From our created art to our films, we have painted this picture of well-being and happiness. Many depictions of this great city are exactly that, great, although the Sex and the City series places little emphasis on using New York, it does so in a way that lets you see how great it is a great place. There are media outlets that show the struggles that the city and the people of New York are going through, which sheds light on the true image of the city. Others, like Sex and the City, which only use parts of the city, but very rarely focus on the things a big city would normally provide, seem to focus mostly on the good qualities. This show fails to portray the real New York because even though it takes place in the city, very little attention is given to it in the entire city. Some media let us see the opposite of this American dream, even if it is only a glimpse of this unwanted life; that even when all hell breaks loose, we still want to hold on to that image, the perfect life, the one thing we recognize as what New York is.
