    Research statement: In society, during the era before the civil rights movement, minorities were victims of discrimination, abuse and life-threatening situations by white people. community. However, over time, the scale of violence diminished, and now in society, abuse has taken on a new form of racism, color-blind racism. This new form of racism is not as violent, but it affects society in the same way. Color-blind racism causes segregation through stereotypes and prejudice based on the color of a person's skin. Although it is not a physical war like the abuses seen in the story, it can be described as a mental war. This mental warfare can result in inaccurate opinions about a certain race. Minorities affected by colorblind racism, as they face discrimination in education or work sectors. I had chosen this topic of colorblind racism in society, because growing up as a black man in the South showed me the injustice of society. By doing this topic, I was able to find more information to see if discrimination is increasing or decreasing in society. I focused my research on finding information showing the evolution of racism since the era of the civil rights movement. For example, my concept map was simple and contained information that helped me answer my research question, so there were not many changes or additions of words to my concept map. Also, my research method changed a little, but the technique shown by this course was the same as the technique I learned in high school. The only difference I used for my research was that I used the MU library database. The Mu Library database search engine expanded my search by finding sources that will answer my research question. After taking ISLT-1111, I found the course to be useful in teaching students how to use the MU Library database to help them write research papers. I would recommend this course to other students because it demonstrates techniques that can be beneficial to a student's education at the University of Missouri at Columbia..
