    The DSM-5 Personality and Personality Disorders Working Group has made several recommendations to modify the DSM-IV approach to diagnosing personality disorders. One of these recommendations was to remove five personality disorders to reduce the level of comorbidity between these disorders. It was recommended to remove histrionic, paranoid narcissistic, paranoid, and dependent personality disorders. In the present article, Zimmerman and colleagues evaluated the impact of these recommendations in three different ways: prevalence of personality disorders, comorbidity among these disorders, and association with psychosocial morbidity. To evaluate the proposed changes in the DSM-5, researchers conducted semi-structured studies. diagnostic interviews on 2,150 outpatient psychiatric patients. The prevalence of personality disorders was approximately 614 individuals, or 28.6% when all 10 DSM-IV personality disorders were included.
