  • Essay / Family Story - 632

Have you ever thought about what makes your family unique? If so, have you found something worth sharing? We all have something unique in our family. Alto, we don't always know what it could be, we have something interesting. My family is no different, we have all had skeletons in our closet and some are still coming out. My family is not a very close-knit family. Everyone in our family has moved away or lives near us and doesn't talk to any of us. Growing up, I had to go back and forth between my parents and it was always very difficult to adjust to going back and forth every week. Because of what has happened in my life, my definition of family is not in blood or DNA, but in the bond we form with each other. I consider the people with whom I have formed strong bonds throughout my life to be part of my family. My family is very big to me, they are not only blood, they are also friends, my father's side and my mother's side may be different but I will always love them no matter what. My family is a very big family. We don't all know each other because there are too many people in my family to know each other. I'm lucky if I know ⅓ of my family's names. I can go to a family reunion and only know the people I came with. I'm sure this happens to a lot of families, but it seems to be the case in ours. We don't have as many family gatherings as we did when I was younger. When I was little, we had family gatherings seemingly every week. Now we're lucky if we get it once every 5 years. I think that might be part of the reason I don't know ⅔ of my family. It depresses me to know that I could meet a member of my family every day and not know anything about them. It's great to meet someone new to your family... middle of paper... happy, it made me believe that I could trust him no matter what. Even today, we have a bond that is stronger than ever. Whether my family is the greatest I know, or whether my family includes some of my closest friends, or whether my parents' sides are completely opposite, I will always love them. My family may be big, but there are all different types of people in my family, related by blood to some very good friends. Or maybe my parents' family is different in more ways than one, I will always love them. I believe that if more families were more like mine, our world would be in a worse state than it is now. My family always fights over the little things and doesn't try to see the big picture. I really hope that when people grow up and start their own families, they try to get along and make the best of it. If they're together or not, I hope they can make it work.
